Benfica

Rui Costa

After Benfica's 1-2 win over Estoril at the Estádio António Coimbra da Mota, in the 32nd and antepenultimate matchday of the Liga Betclic, President Rui Costa, faced with some questions from the media, focused his answers on the game played on Saturday night, and also looked ahead to the next round's derby at the Estádio da Luz.

At the top of the league standings, with two games left to play in the competition, with 78 points, the Eagles are battling for the national title, and in a week's time, on May 10, they host Sporting, a duel that could be decisive.

NEXT DERBY AT LUZ

“It's a difficult game. To the Benfica fans, the only thing I can promise is that this team will fight for the championship until the last breath.”

DECISIVE MOMENTS

“Refereeing? May it be better than it has been, for everyone. You also watched the game [with Estoril], I'm not going to be here protesting about penalties that didn't exist, but we've all been here for a long time, there are lots of little fouls, there are lots of situations in the game that we understand what's going on. So I say, regardless of everything, I speak much more to the players than to the press, as you well know, and what I promise the Benfica fans is that we'll fight for this championship until the last breath. I'm very confident of that, I'm sure that in the next game, the decisive game, Luz will be as it has been all year. We'll have the support of our fans, as we had here today too, and as we've had in every game, and it will make the difference in this decisive match. And I'm also absolutely certain that the players will do everything they can to become national champions.”
