Once the senior women's volleyball team resumed activity in 2018/19, after three decades of inactivity, Benfica returned to competition in the III Division, becoming winners of the highest national level in 2024/25, which they re-entered in 2020/21.
With mentality, overcoming, rigor and demand as the foundations for a journey that would not be easy - as Rui Moreira said on his arrival at the club - Benfica once again wrote pages of success in 2023/24, winning the Portuguese Cup, a trophy that had also eluded them for 50 years. This was followed in September 2024 by the Super Cup, the first in their history. It was a premonition of a glorious start to the season!
On October 6, 2024, they began their journey in the National Championship and, day after day, the eagles battled on, finishing the 1st phase in 2nd place, with 18 wins in 22 games. In the quarter-finals of the play-off, two wins against Vitória SC (3-0 and 0-3) opened the door to the semi-finals, in which the Reds beat FC Porto in three games (3-2, 0-3 and 3-1).
In the final, it was a false start, with the first two games going to SC Braga... The Eagles responded to this setback with a lot of guts! In the tribute match to the Marias, they won 3-1 and then, in a great display, they won 0-3 in Minho, forcing the decisive tie-breaker on this epic May 8th!
