Benfica's Otamendi was voted Defender of the Month in the Liga Betclic 2024/25 in April. The Eagles captain received the most votes from the competition's managers, with a total of 26.98%. Álvaro Carreras came in 3rd place (6.35%).

The Argentine international central defender started in all five of the Red Devils' league games in April, against Farense (home), FC Porto (away), Arouca (home), Vitória SC (away) and AVS (home). Otamendi played 450 minutes and scored 2 goals.
