Preparation for the Club World Cup has begun

In the countdown to the start of the 1st FIFA Club World Cup, Sport Lisboa e Benfica's professional football team began preparations on Wednesday, June 4, at the Benfica Campus facilities.

On the first day of training, coach Bruno Lage had the following players at his disposal:

Goalkeepers – Diogo Ferreira and André Gomes;

Defenders – Álvaro Carreras, Tomás Araújo, Rui Silva, Gonçalo Oliveira, Joshua Wynder, Michée Ndembi and Leandro;

Midfielders – Aursnes, Nuno Félix, Florentino, João Veloso, Rafael Luís, João Rego, Renato Sanches and Diogo Prioste;

Forwards – Arthur Cabral, Di María, Belotti, Bruma, Tiago Gouveia and Eduardo Fernandes.

Bah and Manu remain out as they continue their respective recovery programs (left knee sprain with complete anterior cruciate ligament rupture). Thirteen players are currently representing their national teams: Trubin, Samuel Soares, Otamendi, António Silva, Dahl, Bajrami, Barreiro, Kökcü, Amdouni, Pavlidis, Aktürkoğlu, Schjelderup, and Prestianni.

The preparatory phase for the competition continues at Benfica Campus on Thursday, June 5. On Sunday, June 8, the Benfica delegation is scheduled to travel to the United States of America.

As part of Group C of the 2025 Club World Cup, which will take place in the United States between June 14 and July 13, Benfica will face Boca Juniors (June 16), Auckland City (20), and Bayern Munich (24).
