Last Wednesday, June 4, the Sport Lisboa e Benfica professional football team began preparations for the Club World Cup. Training has been taking place since then at the Benfica Campus facilities, with this Saturday marked by a friendly match against Lusitano Évora.
Nuno Félix, with two goals, and João Rego scored for the Eagles; João Pinto, Cassiano Borges, and Afonso Sousa scored for Lusitano Évora. Final score: 3-3.
Bruno Lage chose a starting eleven consisting of André Gomes, Leandro, Joshua Wynder, Gonçalo Oliveira, Álvaro Carreras, João Veloso, Diogo Prioste, Rafael Luís, Di María, Bruma, and Belotti.
The following players lined up in the second half: Diogo Ferreira, Tiago Gouveia, Rui Silva, Michée Ndembi, Gonçalo Oliveira/José Neto, Florentino, Renato Sanches, Aursnes, Nuno Félix, Eduardo Fernandes, and João Rego.
On Sunday, the 8th, the red delegation is scheduled to travel to the United States of America.
In Group C of the 2025 Club World Cup, which will take place on US soil between June 14 and July 13, Benfica will face Boca Juniors (June 16), Auckland City (20), and Bayern Munich (24).
