THE RACE

Sensational! Diogo Ribeiro, Benfica athlete, won the final of the 50-meter freestyle at the European Under-23 Swimming Championships, held in Samorin, Slovakia, and took home the gold medal. A resounding success sealed with a new national record: 21.67 seconds.

In lane 2, Diogo Ribeiro had a perfect race and a superb finish, beating Ukrainian Vladyslav Bukhov (21.74 seconds) and Romanian David Popovici (21.86).

After silver in the 100-meter butterfly, gold in the 50-meter freestyle!
