Benfica beat Sporting 3-4 in game 5 of the Liga Placard futsal playoff final on Sunday, June 29, at Pavilhão João Rocha. With a 3-2 series victory, the Eagles were crowned national champions for the 9th time in their history! Afterwards, the Fidelidade Pavilion opened its doors to fans to welcome the champions!

In search of their ninth national championship title – 2002/03, 2004/05, 2006/07, 2007/08, 2008/09, 2011/12, 2014/15, and 2018/19, as of this Sunday – the Eagles took to the court with Léo Gugiel, André Coelho, Afonso Jesus, Arthur, Lúcio Rocha and... lots of support from the stands reserved for their fans!

Between the huge celebration by the entire Benfica staff and the lifting of the trophy, Léo Gugiel received the awards for Best Player and Best Goalkeeper of this final.

A few minutes later, Afonso Jesus, André Coelho, and Armindo Coelho, president of the section, together raised a cup that will be displayed at the Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião.

At Luz, at home, the new national champions were welcomed by many fans, who celebrated this sweet victory with them in euphoria.

Inside the Pavilhão Fidelidade, the celebrations continued, in perfect harmony between the team and Benfica fans, in a moment that will remain in the memory of all those who experienced it.

Six years later, Benfica won the Men's National Futsal Championship!
