A proven player, Ana Borges is Benfica's latest signing! The Portuguese international has signed a contract valid until 2027 and can't wait to wear the Sacred Mantle.

With extensive experience, the versatile defender joins the five-time national champions and says she feels “enormous joy” at this new stage in her career.

"I know how important it is to represent Benfica. It is currently the best team in Portugal, as the titles show, and I am extremely happy and excited to be part of this family. May we bring much joy to Benfica fans," said Ana Borges, speaking to BTV.

Having started her career at Fundação Laura Santos, the athlete with the most international caps for the national team (185) also played for Prainsa Zaragoza (Spain), SC Blue Heat (United States), Atlético de Madrid (Spain), Chelsea, and Sporting, before joining the Glorioso.

Now, at 35, she is ready to help enrich the Inspiradoras' list of achievements.

"I think that from the moment we join this club, we have to want to win every title possible and go as far as we can in the Champions League," said the new Benfica player, who aims to contribute to more glory for the Eagles.

With her experience in making decisions on the pitch, Ana Borges hopes to bring sharpness to the team's actions: "I can offer speed, I can play in defense, I can play on the winger. As long as I still feel capable of helping the team, the position doesn't matter. The important thing is to be there, to help each other, and in the end, to be very happy."

Ana Borges, one of the captains of the Portuguese national team, is also looking forward to playing in front of Benfica fans and addressed the club's loyal supporters. "For my part, I can promise you my total commitment and dedication to the club, and I hope to bring you much joy," she said, "I am eager to wear the Benfica jersey." "I am eager for the season to start so that we can bring a lot of joy to our fans," she concluded.
