Sport Lisboa e Benfica extends its deepest condolences to the family of Diogo Jota, who tragically passed away early this morning, along with his brother, André Silva, in a car accident.

One of the most outstanding Portuguese players of today, an international who actively helped the national team win two Nations Leagues, a worthy representative of Portuguese football around the world, having played for Liverpool for the last five seasons, Diogo Jota leaves an indelible mark.

The Portuguese international always stood out for his quality on the pitch and the example he set for younger generations, for his history of overcoming adversity and professionalism, being recognized and admired by fans of all the clubs he represented in his remarkable career, which was brutally cut short at the age of 28.

Sport Lisboa e Benfica joins in the grief of Diogo Jota's and his brother's family and friends, and in the national mourning for these irreparable losses.
