HIGHLIGHTS

SL Benfica's professional football squad started the pre-season works on Monday, July 14.

At the start of the season, players undergo the usual medical checks and physical tests, divided between Hospital da Luz and Benfica Campus.

On Tuesday, July 15, preparations continue at Benfica Campus with two training sessions a day – the first training sessions of the season.

Trubin

The following 28 players are present at the start of training:

  • Goalkeepers: Trubin, Samuel Soares and Diogo Ferreira;

  • Defenders: Otamendi, António Silva, Bah, Tomás Araújo, Dahl, Obrador, Leandro Santos, Joshua Wynder and Gonçalo Oliveira;

  • Midfielders: Aursnes, Florentino, Barreiro, João Rego, Manu, Nuno Félix, João Veloso, Rafael Luís and Diogo Prioste;

  • Forwards: Pavlidis, Tiago Gouveia, Bruma, Aktürkoğlu, Prestianni, Henrique Araújo and Tengstedt.

Norwegian international Schjelderup has been given permission by the Club to return to duty on Wednesday, July 16, for personal reasons.

Day 1 of a new journey

The 2025/26 preseason officially kicked off on Monday, July 14, with medical checks and physical tests between Hospital da Luz and Benfica Campus. In an atmosphere of reunions, renewed energy, and focus on what comes next, 28 players are present on this first day of work of Sport Lisboa e Benfica. Preparation will intensify on Tuesday, July 15, with the first pre-season training session scheduled for the morning, followed by another session in the afternoon at Benfica Campus.
