Benfica captain Otamendi has been called up for Argentina's double header against Venezuela and Ecuador in the South American Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Leaders of the CONMEBOL qualifying stage and alreadywith their place in the competition secured, the Argentinians host Venezuela at 00:30 am continental time (8:30 local time) on September 5. The match is valid for the 17th round and will take place at the Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti in Buenos Aires.

In the 18th round, Argentina will face Ecuador away at the Estadio Monumental Isidro Romero in Guayaquil at midnight continental time (8 pm local time) on September 10.
