Trubin, goalkeeper of Benfica, is part of the Ukrainian national team squad that will face France and Azerbaijan in two qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup.

Placed in Group D, Ukraine will make its debut against France at 7:45 pm continental time, on September 5 (Friday). As the home team, Ukraine will play in Poland at the Tarczynski Arena Wroclaw.

The Ukrainians' second match in this group will be played at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium in Baku. The match against Azerbaijan is scheduled for September 9 (Tuesday) at 5 pm local time.

Two goals, two works of art from the team

The first two goals that led Benfica to victory over Tondela (3-0) on Saturday night, August 23, in Matchday 3 of the Liga Betclic, perfectly reflect the "collective work" emphasized and praised by Bruno Lage after the most recent game played at Estádio da Luz. “It was essential to vary our build-up play, sometimes with two, sometimes with three, also varying the players so that the opponent had no individual references in pressing. And then, knowing how to find the paths to goal”, said the coach. The plays that led to the 1-0 (more than 30 seconds of possession until Ivanovic's lethal shot) and 2-0 (more than 40 seconds of circulation until Aursnes' shot) are eloquent, a hymn to good football.

Saturday night, August 23, marked the return of the Liga Betclic to the Cathedral. In the 2025/26 edition of the competition, on Matchday 3, Benfica hosted and beat Tondela 3-0, in front of 61,229 fans in the stands. With a powerful start, scoring goals, followed by intelligent management and control, the Eagles secured their main objective, winning three points. Ivanovic (31'), Aursnes (42'), and Prestianni (90'+6') scored the goals in the Reds' well-deserved victory. With an 8-goal advantage (26-18), the women's handball team of Benfica defeated Madeira SAD and won the 5th Super Cup, this Saturday, August 23, at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Sines. The game was marked by a special tribute from both teams to the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Sines.
