Present for the 15th time in the last 16 editions of the Champions League, Sport Lisboa e Benfica already knows its possible opponents in the 2025/26 league phase. The draw will take place this Thursday, August 28, at 5 pm (portuguese time), at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

Benfica is placed in pot 2 and knows that it will face two opponents from each of the pots in a single round, with the certainty to play four matches at Estádio da Luz and another four away.

In the league phase, the Eagles cannot face Portuguese teams, nor can they face more than two teams from the same country.

As in last season, which saw the debut of the new competition format, the 36 teams will be drawn manually using physical balls, but the designation of opponents and the order of matches will be determined by computer using software created for this purpose.

The Champions League's league phase matches will be played between September 16 and January 28, 2026. Matchday 1 is scheduled for September 16, 17, and 18. The final will take place on May 30, 2026, at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary.

From Turin to the Cathedral

In Turin, on matchday 1 of the UEFA Women's Champions League league phase, the Inspiradoras faced off against Juventus (2-1). Back in Lisbon, Benfica's women's soccer team, in addition to the Liga BPI game this Sunday, October 12, at 11:00 am against Valadares Gaia, is also already thinking about the round 2 of the Champions League against Arsenal. The setting for Thursday's game (October 16, 8:00 pm) couldn't be more special, as it will be held at the Estádio da Luz. At 11:00 am on Wednesday, for 15 minutes, the Eagles will open their training session to the media. The press conference with coach Ivan Baptista and one player is scheduled for 2:30 pm. Accreditations for the Champions League close at 12 noon on Tuesday, the 14th.
