Held on September 25, at Cidade do Futebol, the draw for the third round of the 2025/26 Portuguese Cup determined that Benfica will face Chaves (Liga 2) away from home. On Friday, October 3, the Portuguese Football Federation officially announced that the match will be played at 7:30 pm on October 17 (Friday).

After overcoming this opponent, the Eagles, as visitors, will face the winner of Atlético-Felgueiras in the fourth round, also drawn on Thursday.

In 2025/26, Glorioso will be seeking its 27th trophy in the Portuguese Cup.
