On Thursday, October 9, four players from Benfica's professional football team competed for their respective national teams.

Dedic, Pavlidis, and Ivanovic were in action in the European qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup.

In Larnaca (Cyprus), at the AEK Arena, against Cyprus, the Benfica defender was in Bosnia and Herzegovina's starting 11 and played the entire match in round 7 of Group H, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

In Glasgow (Scotland), Pavlidis was in the starting lineup for Greece against Scotland (a 3-1 defeat) on matchday 3 of Group C qualifying for the tournament.

At Hampden Park, the striker was involved in the goal, as it was from his shot, which was blocked, that the ball fell to Tsimikas to open the scoring in the 62nd minute. The Benfica player was substituted in the 72nd minute.

Ivanovic was also on the pitch from the 62nd minute in Croatia's draw with the Czech Republic (0-0), on matchday 7 of Group L, held in Prague at the Fortuna Arena.
