Otamendi and Richard Ríos, players from the Sport Lisboa e Benfica professional football squad, were in action for their national teams in the early hours of Wednesday, October 15, against Puerto Rico and Canada, respectively.

At Chase Stadium in Florida (United States), Argentina faced Puerto Rico in another friendly match in preparation for the 2026 World Cup, winning convincingly 6-0. Benfica captain Otamendi started the match but was substituted at halftime.

Also in the United States, specifically at Sports Illustrated Stadium, Richard Ríos started in Canada-Colombia and played for 78 minutes in the match that ended in a goalless draw (0-0), which also served as preparation for the tournament to be held in the summer of 2026 in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

On Tuesday, October 14, Benfica's professional football team continued their preparations for the match against Chaves, a match in the third round of the Portuguese Cup, scheduled for Friday, October 17, at 7:30 pm, at the Estádio Municipal Eng.º Manuel Branco Teixeira. From Turin to the Cathedral

In Turin, on matchday 1 of the UEFA Women's Champions League league phase, the Inspiradoras faced off against Juventus (2-1). Back in Lisbon, Benfica's women's soccer team, in addition to the Liga BPI game this Sunday, October 12, at 11:00 am against Valadares Gaia, is also already thinking about the round 2 of the Champions League against Arsenal. The setting for Thursday's game (October 16, 8:00 pm) couldn't be more special, as it will be held at the Estádio da Luz. At 11:00 am on Wednesday, for 15 minutes, the Eagles will open their training session to the media. The press conference with coach Ivan Baptista and one player is scheduled for 2:30 pm. Accreditations for the Champions League close at 12 noon on Tuesday, the 14th.
