In the first of two important friendly matches ahead of the next competitive cycle, Benfica players Catarina Amado, Lúcia Alves, Diana Silva, and Diana Gomes were in the starting lineup, and the latter made history in the 41st minute when she headed in the equalizer (1-1), scoring the national team's first ever goal against the Olympic champions.
Among the five eagles called up, only Carole Costa was not used.
The second match against the USA is scheduled for Sunday, October 26, at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford.
