Sport Lisboa e Benfica congratulates the Under-17 National Team on their unprecedented and brilliant World Cup title in this category, won on Thursday, November 27, in Qatar.

To the players and coaching staff of this valuable team, we offer our recognition and emphasize a quality and potential that was already evident when they won the European Championship in July.

For Sport Lisboa e Benfica, the satisfaction is twofold. In total, nine players from our youth academy contributed to this memorable achievement: Anísio Cabral, Daniel Banjaqui, Miguel Figueiredo, José Neto, Mauro Furtado, Rafael Quintas, Ricardo Neto, Stevan Manuel, and Tomás Soares.

It should be noted that Benfica is the club with the most players from its youth academy participating in this World Cup, with 10 players representing the team.

A special mention must also go to Mauro Furtado, voted third-best player of the tournament, and to Anísio Cabral, the national team's top scorer with seven goals, which also made him the second-best scorer of the competition.
