First European triumph: Taça Latina (Latin Cup)
Some associative stability led to the return of national titles and to the achievement of the Latin Cup, the first European victory of a Portuguese club.
Former Lisbon Civil Governor, it was in his management that Football, in 1949/50, beyond the return to a National Championship, have reached the first international great achievement, by winning the Latin Cup. The edification of Estádio da Luz was in everybody’s agenda. Meetings and Assemblies were happening in order to prepare the works, commissions were being constituted and the completed project by the architect João Simões (former Footballer) was being delivered to the Lisbon Chamber, in 1951.
