In the opening match of the Sado International Tournament , Benfica beat Napredak, by 3-0.

In the first starting XI from 2018/19, a special emphasis for the presence of the U-19's, João Félix and Gedson, who made their debut for the first team of Benfica. In this first match, new signings, Conti and Castillo also made their debut.
The greater quality of the eagles, playing an attractive football, with first touch ball changes, resulted in the opening goal at 18’, Pizzi launched Castillo, with Chilean making a diagonal shot for the 1-0. The first goal of the Benfica 2018/19 had been scored!
The players under Rui Vitória always tried to vary the center of the game, playing on the flanks. One of those plays brought the 2-0. Grimaldo made the cross and Jardel doubled the lead with a header.
Before the break, Jardel completed his brace with a header after a corner taken by Pizzi.
In the second half, Rui Vitória fielded a new eleven and more debuts for the Reds. André Ferreira, Alex Pinto, Lema, Alfa Semedo, Heriberto and Ferreyra are examples. The formation changed from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2, with Jonas and Ferreyra in the attack.
The match finished with the triumph of the Reds, but the Sado Tournament has set a penalty shootout at the end of every match. For Benfica, Chiquinho, Jonas, Ferreyra, and Keaton scored; Lema missed. For Napredak, Vukanovic, Rusevic, and Petrovic; Nikola Boranijasevic and Markoski missed.
