"International Childhood Cancer Day"

The Social Services of the GNR, in collaboration with the National Guard of Ukraine, have integrated a group of 20 Ukrainian children aged between 6 and 14 who have suffered irreparable losses since the beginning of the war into their holiday camps, with the aim of removing them from their current living environment. As a partner, the Benfica Foundation organized visits to the Estádio da Luz and the Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião with a Ukrainian guide, in order to broaden the range of activities planned for these young people. The initiative was attended by Domingos Almeida Lima, vice president of Benfica and the Foundation – who highlighted the “concern to always be close to young people” – as well as Arménio Pedroso, vice president of Social Services at GNR, and Liudmyla Kulius, former secretary of the Ukrainian GNR.

This Tuesday, May 27, the Benfica Foundation and Sport Lisboa e Benfica marked World Children's Day with the participation of more than 1,500 young people.  Between the Estádio da Luz pitch and the pavilions, there were fun, educational and sporting activities, with the contribution of the various sports and the partners of the Club and the Foundation. Lively, with everything designed to stimulate the children and provide them with different experiences, this was a “very special” moment, as Jorge Miranda, director of the Foundation, told BTV. "We couldn't miss the opportunity to have an unforgettable day," he said. Representing the Almeirim Karting Circuit, Tiago Evaristo stressed the importance of “road education”. The professional football squad of Sport Lisboa e Benfica continued its preparations for the 2025/26 season on Saturday, July 19, at the Benfica Campus. In the morning and afternoon training sessions, the highlight was the integration of midfielder Barrenechea. See full information here.

In a charitable initiative, under the auspices of the Benfica Foundation, the athletes and the coaching staff of the Reds women's football team visited the Santa Marta de Corroios Community Center on Tuesday, December 19. In the spirit of Christmas, presents were distributed to the children of this institution. The Benfica Foundation also offered a TV set, which was symbolically handed over by the players, who got together with the youngsters. The assistant coach of the three-time national champions, André Vale, praised the "sharing of love" during this season, while Daniela Areia Santos and Marta Salvador's hearts were full when they saw how happy the children were

In a initiative from the Benfica Foundation, Jéssica Silva, Valéria Cantuário and Daniela Silva, athletes from the Club's women's football team, met with children who are hospitalized or undergoing treatment at IPO Lisboa. On a visit to the pediatrics department and the institute's Lions pavilion, they handed out scarves, autographs and photographs on Monday, September 25. "I hope it serves to show our children that it's important to stay active with joy and to show examples of overcoming obstacles", praised Ana Lacerda, director of IPO's pediatrics service. "For us, the feeling is very special, because we know we can make their day happier", confessed Jéssica Silva to BTV.
