João Pereira no Challenge Lisboa

Melanie Santos, João Pereira and Vanessa Fernandes were the three main athletes at the first Challenge Lisboa, a Triathlon event disputed this Sunday, next to Parque das Nações.

João Pereira was the biggest winner of the first edition, with 03:41:23, followed by the Australian Christian Kemp (03:45:53) and the German Patrick Dirksmeier (03:45:11), who completed the podium.

The young SL Benfica's triathlete was one of the protagonists of the so called "Battle of sexes", in which the ladies were participating with 6 minutes lead over men. Melanie Santos was the first to reach the finish line, with 02:18:05. The Portuguese Katarina Larsson (02:22:58) and the English Louise Croxson (02:31:43) completed the podium.

In a competition integrating 21 kilometers of Race, 1.9 of Swimming and 90 of Cycling, Vanessa Fernandes, in the year of her returning to the sport, managed to get an excellent 2nd place, with 04:13:58.
