Alex Pinto, 18 years old, right defender, joins Benfica. The player comes from V.Guimarães and has signed contract for the next six seasons, until June 2023.
In statements to BTV, the young player, considered as one of the most promising defenders of his generation, has revealed great happiness… our member nº 30 873 is fulfilling a dream!
"I'm very happy. This is the happiest moment of my life. I've worked always to come here and wear this jersey. Benfica is my club since the day I was born", he said.
Alex Pinto was born in Guimarães, on July 8th 1998, and has played in all the youth categories of V.Guimarães and Moreirense. Benfica is his 3rd club...
In the last season he has completed four matches in the Vitória's B team, before making his debut in the first team against Feirense, in the last Match Day of the Championship, playing 20m.
Asked to introduce himself: “I'm hard-working, humble, always with the will to learn and to win”.
In the last season he also made his debut in the U19 national team, in La Manga Tournament, an important moment for his career.
“It was a very good experience, it's very nice to wear the national shirt".
Alex Pinto talked to his former teammates Bruno Gaspar and Kiko, who have completed their youth training in Benfica and the information received couldn't be better.
"They say good things about Benfica and helped me a lot. We had many conversations", he said.
On the stadium's stands...
“I'm speechless! It's a special moment. I only wish to step on the grass”, he said... saluting, at the same time, his grandfather, who has been always a support for him. “He is very happy and proud, he lives the club for a long time", he concluded.
