The coach remembered the difficulty felt by Benfica to beat CD Aves.
10 March 2018, 21h25
“A hard match, with a fair victory against an opponent well organized in the defense, which wanted to block our ways. We had to work a lot to break that wall. On the first-half, even without an intense offensive flow, we could have scored in the chances we had. Rafa turned up twice in front of Adriano. On the second-half we started strong and we could have scored right in the beginning. After that we scored the first one, the wall collapsed and we scored another one. We won and our work is done, the players were persistent and incisive in what they wanted”, said.
And added: “On the first-half we tried to control the match without taking risks in specific field areas. Aves has three players in the attack who can create danger any, namely Derley, Nildo and Anilton. We had, in a way, that caution. In fact, Aves created few offensive danger”
Once again, more than 50 thousand people on the Luz’s stands.
“There was at Luz a great human frame, together with us and they were very important. Now we go to Santa Maria da Feira, a hard field, but where there will be, for sure, many Benfiquistas to help us”, he declared.
With this result, Benfica puts more pressure on FC Porto, but the fact was devalued.
“Our work is done. The result of the others is up to them. We are deeply focused on ourselves. There are eight games left”, concluded.
