The numbers show that André Almeida is producing the best season in his Benfica career, under Rui Vitória, and they explain the right-back ability to move forward to the attack and give depth to the game.
To have an idea, the number 34 of the benfiquista squad had more influence in goals (in the Liga NOS) this season (two goals and seven assists) than in the four previous seasons.
Apart from being the second player of Benfica with more assists (only behind Cervi), the full-back has other noteworthy numbers: 32 decisive passes (behind Jonas, Pizzi and Cervi), 7 created opportunities (again behind the three elements of the attack) and 546 completed passes in the opponent midfield (behind Pizzi), according to the stats from the site sofascore.com.
The Portuguese international, that also hopes to be part of the National Team coach choices in the year of World Cup, has been showing the usual efficiency in the defensive chapter, but it is in the attack that he has been standing out in the most recent matches.
Apart from the goals and assists, he is the Benfica player with more minutes played in the competition and, in the home match against (2-0), he reached his highest total of minutes played for Sport Lisboa e Benfica: 2222 minutes in 25 matches in the Championship!
