Telma Monteiro

Telma Monteiro won the Gold Medal at the Ekaterinburg Grand Slam, in Russia, and when arriving in Lisbon has analyzed the competition’s difficulty, highlighting the opponents’ quality.

“It was a hard competition. The level was very high. There was the World Champion and some of the best of the world. It was good, I was very motivated to compete, because I felt very good over the last weeks, before the training sessions. I felt I was improving and I would like to put my work to test. Now it’s time to keep working in order to prepare the European Cup.”, considered.

The Benfica’s athlete highlighted the impact of this achievement in the world ranking.

“I achieved an objective that was to go up in the ranking. I will go from the 23rd position to the 11th or 12th of the world ranking, what is excellent to enter as a seed at the world circuit, by the time of the Olympic Qualification. After the European Cup, that is going to be my target”, she said.

Telma Monteiro also recognized Benfica as very important in her career: “Benfica is my second home, it’s where I spend my days training, recovering with my coach. The support of all has been fundamental to keep this level for such a long time.”
