The U-19 National Champions extended his connection with Benfica until 2023.
28 May 2018, 14h33
In his first season in the Under-19 category, Gonçalo Loureiro contributed to the recent conquest of the National Championship. The centre-back born in Guimarães is the only Benfica athlete who played every match in this competition (32 matches), having scored three goals.
"It is another vote of confidence, one more responsibility. I will try to continue giving my best. I am a centre-back, it is a position that requires a big concentration, which was what I always had this season and I want to keep it", said Gonçalo Loureiro in statements to BTV.
With a path in the Portugal Youth national teams, the centre-back has, up to this moment, central, 15 caps: one in the U-15, for in the U-16, five in the U-17 and five in the U-18. In this journey, he scored one goal.
Four seasons ago, Gonçalo Loureiro arrived at Benfica coming from V. Guimarães, the only emblem he had represented until 2014/15. With an eagle to the chest, he already had the opportunity to play in the UEFA Youth League, a competition in which he played six matches and scored two goals.
