Tomás Tavares, an 18-year-old defender (07/03/2001), renewed his contract with Sport Lisboa e Benfica.
"I look at this contract renewal with huge responsibility, I wear a great crest on my chest. I always try to do my best for the Club, which is why I renewed my contract to continue my service to Benfica", explained the player in statements to BTV.
"Now I must keep working well to reach the first team. To see our teammates in the first team is always another source of pride. We see that the Club is betting on the academy football and that give more emphasis to our work", he claimed.
Tomás Tavares has 27 caps in different National team ranks, so far: 14 for the Under-17, five in the Under-18 and eight in the Under-19. He has been called up for the 47th edition of the prestigious International Tournament "Maurice Revello" (Toulon), which will be held by the Under-19s in France.
"I've progressed a lot on several levels, in several competitions that give us different incentives. I'm ready for another season", he said.
