The Sport Lisboa e Benfica has conquered the Algarve Cup after beating Betis, 2-1. Seferovic (Benfica) and Sérgio Leon (Betis) were the scorers.

Estádio do Algarve with a nice attendance, with about 10 thousand people.

The Benfica's line-up was: Júlio César; Pedro Pereira, Luisão, Jardel, Hermes; Fejsa, Filipe Augusto, Cervi, Rafa; Jonas and Seferovic.

Lisandro, Aurélio Buta, Eliseu, Samaris, M. Chrien, João Carvalho, Diogo Gonçalves, Carrillo and Mitroglou have played too.

At 14’, a moment of inspiration by Seferovic. Fejsa gets the ball, passes to Jonas, who assists the Swiss international for a perfect conclusion, a tremendous lob. It was the first one!

Minute 32, Bétis equalizes by Sérgio Leon, after a Joaquín's assistance.

On the second half, as usual, some substitutions made by Rui Vitória. But Seferovic, the man of the match, was on fire and it was a matter of time until the decision. Good combination on the midfield and Rafa performing a long assistance for the winning goal, at 49'.

Fully focused, Bruno Lage's players trained on the pitch ahead of Saturday's game (8:30 pm) at Estádio da Luz, in Matchday 3 of the Liga Betclic.

Early morning preparation

On Turkish soil, the morning after the Champions League play-off match against Fenerbahçe at the Sükrü Saraçoğlu Stadium, Benfica's professional football team put to work at the Besiktas training center facilities, already preparing for the match against Tondela, from Matchday 3 of the Liga Betclic,  scheduled for 8:30 pm, on Saturday at Estádio da Luz. Only the athletes who were not used and the substitutes who played in the Istanbul match trained on the pitch – the rest underwent active recovery in the gym on Thursday, August 21.
