The Benfica's athletes, Telma Monteiro and Nuno Saraiva, have competed, this Wednesday, in Budapest, Hungary, at the Judo World Cup.
Competing in -57 kg, Telma Monteiro beat the Dutch Margrite Bergstra, by ippon and the Olympic Champion Rafaela Silva right after. On the third round, she left the Canadian Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard behind, in the Golden Score. In the quarter-finals, Telma Monteiro lost against Myriam Roper, but went to playoff to beat the Korean You-Jeong Kwon.
Fighting for the Bronze medal, the Benfiquista lost against the French Helene Receveaux by wazari, finishing her participation in the 5th position.
In -73 kg, Nuno Saraiva beat the Algerian Oussama Djeddi and the Moldavian Norin Tatarescu by ippon, on the second round. But on the next round, he was defeated by the Ucranian Artem Khomula.
