Luisão

After completing 500 games with Benfica and having become the Club's player with more titles won with 20 trophies, Luisão makes history once again becoming the Brazilian with more games for the same club in Europe

The 90 minutes played against Desportivo das Aves allowed the defender to reach 528th match for Benfica, beating a Brazilian record in Europe. Luisão surpassed Roberto Carlos's record, who finished his spell at Real Madrid, club he represented from 1996 to 2007, with 527 matches played .

Playing for Benfica, the 14 encounters played so far in 2017/18 have allowed Luisão to surpass Coluna, who made 518 matches for the Reds, and entering the podium of the most used players

At the age of 36, Luisão is an important name of Benfica and of the Portuguese and European football for the longevity representing the same club. 

The 528 matches for Benfica until October 23rd  are divided into 330 in the National Championship, 42 in the Portuguese Cup, 24 in the League Cup, Six in the Super Cup and 144 in the UEFA competitions (Champions League ad Europa League ). He scored 45 goals.
