Rui Vitória: “A solid performance against a great team”

Rui Vitória praised the attitude and the performance from the players on the Sunday match (1-3), against a V. Guimarães' team that “creates a lot of problems to the opponents”.”.

“First, I want to highlight the great match the happened here, a great football spectacle, on the pitch and from the supporters also. It was a well-deserved win against a great team that can create problems to any opponent. We knew that Vitória could create a dangerous play and we always had a great tactical discipline and great defensive organization", said the coach in the flash interview at the end of the match.

"One of the great merits that my team had was the capacity of knowing how and when to close down the opposition and seize the moments of the game. It was a very solid performance against a great team.”, he stated. 

“We are aware that representing Benfica is to always want to win, always play to win. To win here is not easy. Vitória is a team that creates a lot of problems to their opponents. They created us problems too, but we were superior”, he remembered.

The championship will stop for international commitments.  A break that, according to the coach, will not affect the daily work and will also allow promoting more young players from the academy to work with the main squad. 

“They are interruption that were already planned. We have to win and we want to win. Nothing changes our philosophy and our approach. It was crucial to come here and get a win. We came her knowing what we had to do. Of course, working on the back of a win is better. Now we have this break and we will continue to work as we have been doing and take the opportunity to promote more youngsters from the academy.”, revealed the coach of the eagles.
