Jonas: "It is a pride to be able to replicate what Eusébio has done"

The 13th goal from Jonas in 11 matchweeks of Liga NOS clear the way for Benfica's triumph at Vitória de Guimarães, but also produced a relevant fact in history, which began in 2014/15, of the forward with Benfica's jersey. Jonas has been scoring for nine consecutive league matches, a streak that puts him at the level of... Eusébio.

The Black Panther had been the last player from the eagles to score in so many consecutive matches,  in the 1964/65 season. After matching the record of mythical, Jonas reacted with satisfaction and shared the achievement with his teammates, aware that, without their contribute, it would be impossible the live this moment.

"I'm very happy for having helped Benfica in this nine matchweeks. I share the joy of these goals with my teammates, because they are fundamental in play build-up. We have a huge collective strenght in the dressing room and that transfers to the pitch", said Jonas to SL Benfica media channels and to the Brazilian press.

"The fact of replicating something that  Eusébio has done, is a great honor.  Eusébio is a worldwide football legend, he represented and will always represent a lot for the country. It is a great pride to repeat what a legend has done. It motivates me to keep working hard, score goals and help the team ", stated the goal scorer.
