Benfica-Sporting: one year ago, Salvio opened the scoring at the far post

On December 11^th, 2016, precisely a year ago, Salvio beat Rui Patrício and opened the scoring in the derby at Estádio da Luz against Sporting. It was in matchweek 13 of 2016/17 edition of Liga NOS.

At a time when the January 3^rd derby already makes emotions run high among the two sets of fans, the Official Website recalls the play that resulted in the 1-0 for Benfica in that clash of December 11^th, 2016. A quick counter-attack play which started with Pizzi and was conducted by Gonçalo Guedes. The youngster who graduated from Caixa Futebol Campus found Rafa on the left wing, who assisted Salvio with a trivela cross. The Argentinian put the ball in the back of the net at the far post.

From the goal against Sporting to the one scored against Estoril only some players have changed.  A quick counter-attack play which started with Krovinovic, who passed to Cervi on the left; from a countryman to another, the left-footed winger assisted Salvio, who finished the play at the far post. 

The emotions are running high in the championship, with the three candidates very close in the league table. Nothing better than a derby to open the calendar year. The big match of round 16 is scheduled for a Wednesday (January 3^rd).
