Raúl Alonso Jiménez Rodríguez has reached, this Sunday, 100 matches with an eagle upon his chest. The Mexican, native from Tepeji del Río de Ocampo, entered the game in the 80’ to replace Jonas, in a match against Tondela that the four-time champions ended up winning by 1-5, with goals from Pizzi (2), Salvio and Jonas (2), in matchweek 15 of Liga NOS.

The forward arrived at Benfica in 2015/16, in other words, he is in his third season playing for the reds. Coming from Atletico Madrid, Raúl made his debut for the eagles on August 23rd, 2015, at Estádio Municipal de Aveiro. Benfica lost against Arouca (1-0), with Raúl entering the game in the 78’ to replace Samaris.

In the next round, another match… and the debut scoring for Benfica! Raúl opened the scoring in the 3-2 win, at Estádio da Luz, against Moreirense. This happened on August 29th...

In that season, the forward made 45 appearances and scored 12 goals. In the following season, he played 32 matches and scored eleven goals.

So far, in the current season, Raúl has made 23 appearances and scored twice… In total, the 26-year-old player has made 100 matches with an eagle upon his chest.

When it comes to titles,  Raúl Jiménez has won two National Championships, one Portuguese Cup, two Super Cups and a League Cup.
