Rui Vitória's team has made 27 matches and scored 73 goals at the Cathedral in the calendar year that is about to end.
21 December 2017, 12h51
More than half of the goals amassed by the team were scored by Jonas. In the year in which he reached and surpassed the milestone of 100 goals with Benfica's jersey, the Brazilian forward, currently the top goal scorer of the 2017/18 edition of Liga NOS, scored in 38 occasions.
The count is made from January 3, 2017. When they hosted Vizela (4-0) in the CTT League Cup group stage, the reds took the first steps towards the invincibility at home in the domestic competitions (Liga NOS, Portuguese Cup and CTT League Cup).
In the calendar year of 2017 – which ends with the trip to Bonfim, to face Vitória de Setúbal, in Matchday 2 of the CTT League Cup group stage – the team led by Rui Vitória reached a 17-match unbeaten run at Estádio da Luz, in a global analyses which includes games in the European competitions, having only been stopped on September 12, when the team hosted the Russians of CSKA Moscow, in the Champions League group stage.
Considering only the domestic competitions, Benfica has racked up a total of 18 triumphs at the Cathedral, scattered through four competitions (15 in the Liga NOS, 2 in the Portuguese Cup, 1 in CTT League Cup) and 5 draws (2 in the Liga NOS, 1 in the Portuguese Cup and e 2 in the CTT League Cup).
