Luís Filipe Vieira: “The first option of Sport Lisboa e Benfica is Bruno Lage”

Luís Filipe Vieira was this Monday afternoon in the Press Conference room of the Estádio da Luz where he made a brief statement to the journalists. Alongside Bruno Lage, the Chairman confirmed that the coach will continue to lead the Professional Football squad until the end of the season.

“First, I would like to tell you that we will speak about the present and about the future, what is in the past – I think that Rui Vitória also said that yesterday–, is in the past.  We are very grateful to Rui Vitória, for all the work he has done at Sport Lisboa e Benfica, for the titles and the joys he has given us. And I think he is also happy to have passed through Sport Lisboa and Benfica”, he started by saying.

“In relation to the present and the future, let us be very clear about this, from the very beginning, and in contrast with what many of you have reported, Sport Lisboa e Benfica never got in touch with any agent or coach”, clarified the Chairman before the announcement.

“The story today, the present, is to tell you that the first option of Sport Lisboa e Benfica is Bruno Lage. It was well thought out, he is a man that knows our club very well, he knows what Benfica is, he knows the whole Club youth, he knows perfectly well all the goals that the Club has”, finished Luís Filipe Vieira.
