On a night of intense emotion at Estádio da Luz, Gabriel contributed for Benfica's win (2-1) over Sporting in the first leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. The number 8 jersey opened the scoring in the derby, but the goal was only part of a top class display.

 Gabriel beat Renan at 16' and scored the 1-0 at Estádio da Luz.
