Benfica's centre-back Ferro renewed his contract with Sport Lisboa e Benfica until 2023. To BTV, he admitted to being proud and only wants to correspond in the best way on the pitch.

It is a feeling of pride to get here. I am grateful to the club for what they have done for me. It is a greater responsibility, and I want to give back in the best way the bet made on me”, he claimed.

The 21-year-old youngster nurtured in Seixal has been representing the Club for eight seasons and revealed what he felt in the first few days with an eagle on his chest.

“When I arrived at the Club I had now expectations… I came to see what would happen.  Of course, dreams guide our life, but I have never put that expectation on me. As time went by, I felt that the Club believed and bet on me”, remembered Ferro.

Ferro

The number 97 jersey made his debut against Sporting in a Portuguese Cup match. The moment he came on to replace Jardel was the fulfillment of a dream.

“I have always worked for that and I continue to do so. The moment arrived, and I am grateful for that. Now I must continue to reach the Club and personal goals”, he stressed.

Ferro

Benfica’s paradigm is to bet on youth development. Ferro is not indifferent to this attitude of the Club and ensures that today is easier to believe that it is possible to reach the  first team.

“I saw teammates who are with me since the U-15s. It fills me with pride. Over the years, the bet has been bigger and better. Looking at Rúben [Dias], at Renato [Sanches], who are from my generation, we take pride in that and it makes us believe that we can get there” he admitted.

Ferro

Ferro scored in his first match as a starter, against Nacional (10-0) and confessed what he felt on that moment.

“It is amazing! And then to hear people shouting our name. I have no words to describe the feeling.”, he described.

Continue to help the club grow", was the footballer's desire for the future.
