A “hard-fought win” over Rio Ave (2-3) left Benfica just only point away from becoming the national champion. However, Samaris refuses a state of euphoria.

“It's a victory in a final. We are counting the finals since the match against FC Porto, where we clinched the top spot, and today [Sunday] it was another win, another step towards our goal. It was a hard-fought win, we played against a strong team, especially at home, where our direct opponent drew two rounds ago”, analyzed Benfica's Greek midfielder, moments after receiving the Liga NOS Man of the Match award of round 33.

“What's important at this moment is to keep focus, to keep the feet on the ground and win the last match to become champions”, he claimed.
