The basketball team sealed, this Friday, at the Pavilion of CAB, the passport to the semifinals of the Portuguese Basketball League play-off, after beating CAB Madeira, by 59-80.

Benfica's starting lineup: Miguel Maria Cardoso, Fábio Lima, Micah Downs, Arnette Hallman and Cláudio Fonseca.

In the semifinals, Benfica will lock horns with the winner of the clash between FC Porto and Terceira Basket;

Benfica fought until the end for a different outcome in the last 16 of the Club World Cup, but after extra time they fell to Chelsea (1-4), thus ending their journey in the first edition of the competition in the United States of America. In a game that was interrupted in the 86th minute due to the threat of a thunderstorm and ended almost five hours after the kick-off, Di María leveled the score at 90'+5' (1-1), taking the match into 30 minutes of extra time, during which time the result hung in the balance for the English at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
