Pizzi renews contract until 2023

The king of assists in the 2018/19 Liga NOS and in Europe's top leagues (19 assists), Pizzi celebrated his fourth national title with Benfica and finished a dream season at the Club with a contract renewal until 2023.

"I'm very happy with one more contract renewal. It's a huge pleasure to be part of this Club. It's a sign that my work is being well done and developed in the best way possible", stated Pizzi, in an interview with BTV, after closing the deal with the Chairman Luís Filipe Vieira.

More assists (23 in all competitions), more goals (15) and more appearances (55): the 2018/19 season fantastic for Pizzi, one of Benfica's driving forces in the Reconquest that resulted in the 37th national title in the Club's history.

"We didn’t start very well, but we finished in a very good and positive way; my season also had a lot of quality and I am happy for that; collectively, we finished the season with the Reconquest, and now, to finish it like this, with a contract renewal, is undoubtedly a source of pride for me. I'm very happy ", assumed the eagles’ number 21.

With his contract extended until 2023, Pizzi assures that will commitment and dedication will always be the same. "The only thing that I can promise is a lot of daily work, to do my utmost for the team and for the Club, a great ambition to continue to win even more titles for Benfica. ", he assumed.

Called up by Fernando Santos to represent the Portuguese National squad in the final four of the Nations League, Pizzi faces the next challenge with great motivation. "I’ll represent our country with a huge joy for having renewed my contract with Benfica, and of course it's also a great pride to be part of the National Team. ", claimed the Portuguese international.
