Benfica is the club with more players nominated for the 2019 Golden Boy Award, with six names: Svilar, Florentino, Gedson, Jota, João Félix and José Gomes.
Under the auspices of the Reconquest, the men under Bruno Lage carried out a fantastic second half of the season, which resulted in the Club's 37th National title.
The Golden Boy award started in 2003 and aims to reward the Best Under-21 Footballer in Europe's championships. The jury is composed of 40 journalists from various newspapers and magazines specialized in football.
“Tuttosport” revealed the 100 nominees, but this number will be reduced until we reach the 20 final nominees, from which will come the successor of De Ligt, the centre-back from Ajax who won the Golden Boy in 2018. In 2016, Renato Sanches, a reds' academy graduate and Champion with Benfica, was the first and only Portuguese player to win this award.
