Catarina Amado has signed a 3-year deal with SL Benfica. After a season in the 1st Division with Estoril Praia, the 19-year-old winger/forward (21/07/1999) will play with the red jersey in 2019/20.

The player, completed 1972 minutes (24 matches) between the 1st Division and Portuguese Cup and scored 16 times.

 "This deal is very important for me, Benfica is the club of my heart. I feel like home here and I hope to grow as a player", said Catarina Amado to BTV.

“Benfica is a big club, with amazing conditions and I was welcomed by everyone. The club started with a great project, and I have great expectations for the new season. I want to offer my contribution to the team so that we can win all the competitions", she concluded.

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
