Bruno Lage is the new coach of Benfica B

On July 1, 2018, the new coach took office, in what is a return to a place he knows very well.

After several years working abroad, Bruno Lage returns to Sport Lisboa e Benfica to take the helm of the B team.

Graduated in Physical Education, Health and Sports, with a specialization in Football, he started his career as an assistant coach at the grassroots of Vitória de Setúbal in 1997/98.   

He coached UF Comércio Industria in 1st District Division as the head coach, and as the assistant coach, AD Fazendense (3rd Division), Est. Vendas Novas (3rd Division and 2nd Division B), SU Sintrense (3rd Division). In parallel he collaborated in the "Escolinha de Futebol Quinito", having played the role of coach and technical director.   

In 2004/05, he joined grassroots of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, where he coached the U-10, U-15, U-17 and U-19 categories having won two National Championships and two District Championships. He ended his contract with Sport Lisboa e Benfica in 2012 and embraced a project in Dubai. There, at Al Ahli FC Dubai, between 2012 and 2014, he coached the U-19 team and the B team.

In 2015, he joined the coaching staff of Carlos Carvalhal at Sheffield Wednesday, where he remained until 2017. Last season he was, with Carlos Carvalhal, an assistant coach at Swansea, in the Premier League.
