On the part of the Turkish club, which even is of good memory for Benfica, a special emphasis for the words of praise from the coach, Phillip Cocu, and the sporting director, Damien Comolli.
“We will prepare ourselves the best way possible until the match against Benfica. We know we can make two good matches”, said Philip Cocu.
Even so, he did not forget the power and the experience of Benfica in the UEFA competitions.
“Benfica is an opponent used to playing in the European competitions. The truth is we landed one of the toughest opponents”, he considered.
“Benfica is a club with a very important tradition. Las season they fought for the championship until the end. We are working. We will play against a very strong opponent”, he warned...
Many Portuguese footballers play or have played in the Turkish football, some representing Benfica’s opponent.
One of those players was Luís Neto...
“Fenerbahçe is a very difficult opponent, it would be more favorable if Benfica played the second leg at home. Like this, Benfica will have to get a good result in the first match”, he said.
Bruno Alves also represented the canaries of Istambul.
“Two great team will be face to face, with excellent players. Benfica has a tradition in the Champions League and wants to be once again present in the group stage. It has a strong squad and it bought good players. Fenerbahçe has not been so often in the competition and will give everything to go back”, he said.
The goalkeeper Beto currently represents the Turkish side of Goztepe and knows the Reds’ opponent very well.
“in my opinion, Benfica has the advantage of playing the first leg at home, because it can gain the upper hand. In the second leg, regardless of being a very difficult stadium to play in, with a heavy enjoinment and where there is a huge pressure from the supporter, I do not believe there will be a very competitive Fenerbahçe”, he stressed.
