Benfica was largely superior to Fenerbahçe in the first leg of the Champions League 3rd qualifying round and won (1-0) in front of nearly 60 mil spectators at the Estádio da Luz.

Benfica won with a goal from Cervi (69’), but the football produced, especially in the second half, deserved a big result for the second leg, that will take place on August 14, in Istanbul.

After the break, the eagles were more dynamic and quickly created a pair of attacking plays that could have ended with the ball on the back of Demirel's back.

Cervi

Already with Castillo in the attack (he replaced Ferreyra at 61’), Benfica scored the 1-0. Salvio made a cross on the right towards Cervi, who, on the opposite side, pulled the ball to his left foot and beat Demirel (69’).

Benfica had a higher ball possession (63%), produced more attacks, made more, but the difference in the scoreboard did not change until the final whistle.
