Throughout the last 15 years, many players of SL Benfica performed at Estádio da Luz. The challenge we launch is for you to choose the eleven out of batch o players we have selected and who meet two requirements: they played a minimum of 15 official matches in this Stadium and have been on the pitch for at least 1015 minutes.

The ball is in your court! The poll takes place between October 25 and 29 and will elect one goalkeeper, two full-backs, two centre-backs, three midfielders and three wingers/forwards.

A heartfelt tribute to José Augusto!

Two-time European champion, synonymous with the Sport Lisboa e Benfica mystique, José Augusto was honored on Sunday, April 13, the day of his 88th birthday. During half-time of the Benfica-Arouca match, on matchday 29 of the Liga Betclic, he was applauded by the Benfiquistas and thanked for the gesture from the Presidential Tribune. There, in the box, in the presence of President Rui Costa, among José Augusto's friends and family, Happy Birthday was sung to one of the undeniable names in the history of the Glorioso.

He's a two-time European champion, he's one of us!

The evening of April 14, Sunday, was marked by another beautiful and emotional moment. In the presidential box at the Estádio da Luz, at half-time of the Benfica-Moreirense match of round 29 of the Liga Betclic, two-time European champion José Augusto was honored as part of his 87th birthday, which he celebrated on Saturday. Congratulations, two-time champion!

With all pomp and circumstance, the new Estádio da Luz officially came to life on October 25, 2003,  in one more day of passion, fervor, and Benfica mystique. On the day that marks 19 years since the inauguration of the venue, we congratulate the distinctive Cathedral of the Glorioso!
