Benfica began its journey in the 2018/19 European competitions against Pafiakos Pafos, in the first leg of the 2nd Qualifying Round of the Volleyball Challenge Cup. An emphatic triumph by 3-0 and a precious lead for the trip to Cyprus.

Starting lineup: Tiago Violas, Ivo Casas, André Lopes, Theo, Rapha, Zelão and Marc Honoré.

The 2nd leg of the 2nd Qualifying Round of Challenge Cup will be played next Wednesday, November 14. SL Benfica travels to Cyprus, where they will face Pafiakos Pafos at Afrodite Pafos. This game is scheduled for 6 pm.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
