Gabriel: “I believe that we will grow”

It was with goals from Lewandowski (10’) and Renato Sanches (54’) that Bayern Munich left, this Wednesday evening, Estádio da Luz with the win (0-2).

At the end of the match, Gabriel spoke to BTV. A special evening for the Brazilian midfielder who revealed what Rui Vitória told him before bringing him on.

“It was very special, it was a match that I had never played, in a competition we know is the biggest at club level. The result could have been better... I am happy with my debut in the Champions League, I hope it was the first of many matches”, he said.

“The team knew how to contest, it was an evenly contested match, we had two opportunities to score and tie the game, and I believe that we will grow in this competition and gradually we are going to move on”, he explained.

“It is a very good feeling. Football must be like this. It is always good to have the Stadium full”, he said.

Urged to reveal what roles Rui Vitória had assigned him before bringing him on the pitch, the Brazilian midfielder did not avoid the question...

“H asked me to help Fejsa in the contention and to take the ball forward, to distributed well to have more pace in the transition”, he concluded.

The Champions League returns on October, with Benfica traveling to Greece.
